How the late payment interest calculator (germany) works
Default interest under German law (§ 288 BGB): base rate plus 5 percentage points (consumer involved) or 9 percentage points (business to business, plus a €40 flat fee). The base rate is adjusted on 1 January and 1 July – the default is 1.52 % (since 1 July 2026).
